1 Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest
1.1 The Chair welcomed Members to the meeting of the Culture, Communications, Welsh Language, Sport, and International Relations Committee.
1.2 In accordance with Standing Order 34.19, the Chair determined that the public were excluded from the Committee’s meeting in order to protect public health but that the meeting would be broadcast live on www.senedd.tv.
1.3 In accordance with Standing Order 17.24A, Heledd Fychan MS declared a relevant interest in that she had previously been employed by National Museum Wales; has been a member of the board of the Museums Association; and on The Federation of Museums and Art Galleries of Wales’ committee.
2 One-day inquiry into heritage, museums and archives
2.1 The Committee heard evidence from representatives of Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, The Federation of Museums and Art Galleries of Wales, and Museums Association.
2.2 The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales and Museums Association agreed to write to the Committee with further information relevant to the session.
3 One-day inquiry into heritage, museums and archives
3.1 The Committee heard evidence from representatives of National Museum Wales and National Library for Wales.
4 National Museum Wales and Arts Council of Wales: delivery of joint projects
4.1 The Committee heard evidence from representatives of National Museum Wales and Arts Council for Wales.
4.2 Both organisations agreed to provide the Committee with further information relevant to the session.
5 Papers to note
5.1 The papers were noted.
5.2 The Committee agreed to write to the First Minister to ask for further detail on the issues in his response to the Committee on the work of the Welsh Government on international relations.
5.3 The Committee agreed to write to the Minister for Economy and the Deputy Minister for Arts and Sports and Chief Whip to ask for clarification on their respective responsibilities for sectors with the Committee remit.
6 Motion under Standing Order 17.42 to resolve to exclude the public from the meeting for the remainder of the meeting
6.1 The Motion was agreed.
7 Private debrief
7.1 The Committee considered the evidence received and agreed to write to National Museum Wales and Arts Council for Wales.
7.2 Due to time constraints, the Committee did not consider the draft letter to the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. Members agreed to consider the correspondence outside of this meeting.
